The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court today accepted a ‘leave to appeal’ plea of journalist Naimul Islam Khan against a High Court order over the right to publishing the daily Amader Samay.
A four-member Appellate Division panel headed by Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah passed the order asking the present publisher Syed Mohaimen Boksh Kollol to continue his job until the disposal of the appeal in this regard.
Dhaka district magistrate on September 28, 2011, declared Kollol as the publisher of the daily. Following a writ filed by Khan against the order, the High Court in 2012 upheld the decision of Dhaka district magistrate.
Journalist Naimul Islam Khan in 2013 filed a civil petition against that High Court order and hearing on the plea started on July 17, 2016 and concluded yesterday.
